Meet MARK

(President)

Dr. Mark Lee is a veterinarian, entrepreneur, and international children’s book author based out of Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, where he was the President of the VBMA chapter. He has since been a speaker for the VBMA and is now serves as a VBMA Alumni Board Member. Dr. Lee was previously a Regional Medical Director where he was responsible for over 25 hospitals and 70 veterinarians. He has now started his own veterinary relief and consulting business. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife and four boys as well as fishing.

Meet Caitlin

Dr. Caitlin Hering completed her doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania followed by a rotating internship at The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. She has practiced clinical small animal emergency, urgent care, and primary care, and held several non-clinical roles. She previously led university and key opinion leader relations at The Farmer’s Dog, is a founding board member of a foster-to-adopt non-profit, Rain or Shine Rescue, and recently joined Elanco Animal Health as Regional Consulting Veterinarian in New York. She lives in Brooklyn with her fiancé, Jake, and their rambunctious and dramatic English Setter, Shy.

Meet Libby

(Vice President)

Libby Czapor is a small animal veterinarian based in Chicago, IL. She is a Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2022 graduate, where she served as her local VBMA Chapter President and 2021 Regional Leader of the National VBMA. As an associate veterinarian and recent(ish) graduate, Dr. Czapor visits various veterinary schools to talk about the new graduate experience, furthering her passion for mentorship and training of new graduates. She continues to develop her skill set through small animal general practice, emergency, and shelter positions and is committed to client communication in each setting. In her free time, Dr. Czapor enjoys exploring the city of Chicago, spending time at Wrigley Field, and can always be expected to have a trip planned. While in veterinary school, she adopted her cat, Apollo, who loves to steal off her plate.

Meet Ryan

(Treasurer)

Ryan Gibson, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology), a veterinary neurologist at Auburn University, specializes in educating students and practitioners to enhance care for neurological patients. His teaching focuses on foundational neuroscience, applications in clinical neurology, and microanatomy, while he also offers online consultations for veterinarians via stratocyte.com and VOCN. These consultations often address issues such as seizure management, various neurological conditions, and palliative care for degenerative diseases. Through these consultations, Dr. Gibson aims to serve a population of pets that traditionally may not have access to specialist-level care and support veterinarians on challenging cases. Dr. Gibson collaborates with researchers on projects exploring new treatments for neuropathic pain, studying the aging of the neurological system across species, and seizure therapies. He is the founder of Pet Parent Educators, which aims to increase client education following the diagnosis of chronic conditions such as seizures and diabetes and through various life stages. Meet Brandon

(Marketing)

Dr. Brandon Thornberry is a veterinarian and inventor. He graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. He served as the Missouri VBMA Chapter President and served on the VBMA National Board as the Marketing Director in 2014. He completed a biomedical innovation fellowship after graduation where he spent time collaborating with veterinarians and physicians to invent new medical devices. Following his fellowship, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and spent time in both full-time emergency and general practice. He is currently the Clinical Operations Veterinarian for CareVet, which has a network of over 250 hospitals. In his role, he helps support doctor development from new graduates to medical directors. He also has assisted CareVet into becoming an industry leader in Clinical Outcomes. He enjoys spending time with his family, running, and traveling.
